For Lucas King, music has always been a way to explore ideas, emotions and creative freedom. Based in Edenhope, a small town in Western Victoria, Australia, the independent artist has spent years developing his sound away from traditional music scenes. His latest electronic track, “Vulpes,” offers a glimpse into that evolving journey.
King first discovered music through drums at the age of 12 before learning guitar and joining bands during grade nine. His early experiences were rooted in rock, particularly its heavier side, and those influences continue to appear in his electronic productions through their energy, intensity and emotional character.
When opportunities to collaborate became limited after moving to a small town, King began creating music alone. He recorded his own instruments, experimented with dawless equipment and eventually made the transition to digital audio workstations. This progression allowed him to build complete tracks independently while continuing to explore different sounds and styles.
King is particularly drawn to slower electronic tempos, often working between 90 and 125 BPM. However, he prefers following inspiration rather than adhering to strict genre conventions. “Vulpes” was created during one of his productive creative periods, with King choosing to work quickly and avoid overthinking the process. The result is an honest and instinctive electronic release driven by experimentation and feeling.
